Korca (pronounced Korca)Coryza is a town (85,600 inhabitants) of Albania, capital of thehomonymous district and prefecture. In Albania is located south-central, not far from the borders with Greece and Macedonia. And is the largest city in the south-eastern Albania. It is located on the slopes of the mountain of Moravia, 800 meters above sea level, has become an important industrial and trade in the eighteenth century, due to the development of trade with neighboring regions. Korca is the museum of medieval art, which represents the cultureof the Albanian people. There is also the National Museum of Education, 7 March 1887 in which you opened the first school inAlbanian language and the new museum "Bratko Collections" with antiques from the Far East. Korca is the principal city of the south-east and is situated on a plateau of 869, but west of Florina (Greece), 39 km south of Lake Ohrid. And 'the center of the largest carpet production in Albania. In the city there are interesting museums, including The Museum of Medival Art and The Historical Museum . Most of the ancient city was destroyed by the earthquakes of 1931and 1960, beating the minarets and churches, however, a bit of color remains in the bazaar of Korca. The city is also famous for the serenades, the celebrations of Carnival and the typical cuisine of the region. Korca is situated at 179 km south-east of Tirana.
